Traditionally, each spring CHIOP has held a Consulting Challenge for Master's and PhD students in I/O Psychology who have just completed their 2nd year in graduate school. The host organization is in the Greater Chicagoland area and is kept secret until the morning of the challenge. Prior host institutions were Sears Holding Corporation, United Airlines,  Walgreens, and the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The participants are provided with an opportunity to propose solutions for a real workplace issue and the host organization gains great ideas and possibly a great intern!

After a few years without hosting a Consulting Challenge, the CHIOP board is working to try and bring back this well-loved event.

Some of the Universities represented in previous Consulting Challenges come from Bowling Green State University, Claremont Graduate University, California State University-San Bernardino, Fairfield University, Hofstra U, Illinois Institute of Technology, Missouri State, Missouri U of Science & Tech, Roosevelt University, Teachers College - Columbia U, University of Central Florida, University of Guelph, and Wayne State University. Our winning team members include:

2015 - Sears Holdings: Alison Bayne (BGSU), Leilani Hedstrom (RU), and Yuyan Zhang (BGSU)

2016 - United Airlines: Brian Costello (RU), Krystyn Ramdial (UCF), and Sami Nesnidol (BGSU)

2017 - Walgreens: Kelsey Barringer (Fairfield U), Nicole Carusone (UCF), and Priyanka Devineni (Elmhurst College)
